In court, the duo admitted their guilt and was subjected to a fine, but notably, no conviction was officially recorded on their records. Hadid’s representative clarified that the marijuana was legally purchased in New York under the coverage of a medical license.

The charges against Gigi Hadid and her friend were explicitly for “the importation of marijuana and importation of utensils used for the consumption of marijuana,” as stated by the Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control. The quantity of the substance found was reportedly minimal and appeared to be for personal use.
Following their arrest, the pair were taken to a detention centre but were later released on bail. Two days later, they appeared in the Cayman Islands summary court, where they were ordered to pay a fine of 1,000 Cayman Islands dollars (equivalent to approximately $1,200 or £920).
